Certificate IV in Information Technology Networking


The course provides individuals with the ability to work with small-scale networks within the limited domain of work. Within a chosen and limited parameter, the candidate might need to install and also manage a network for a widely different range of industries. After completing the course, the candidate might need to work individually or in teams to complete the work process efficiently within a set period of time. While working in teams, they might also need to transfer knowledge or gain that within a group of people of similar or upgraded skills.

  • Applicants are expected to have language, literacy, numeracy and communication skills to at least Year 11 level. 
  • Successfully qualified ACCIT Foundation Course and Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology. 
  • Have IELTS overall score of 5 or above and not less than 5 in each band (IELTS exam cost is to be bored by the student).

Class room based 

There are 17 units of competency that must be completed as part of this qualification. 

  1. Participate effectively in WHS communication and consultation processes 
  2. Determine and confirm client business requirements  
  3. Contribute to copyright, ethics and privacy in an ICT environment  
  4. Install and manage a server   
  5. Install and configure virtual machines for sustainable ICT  
  6. Manage network and data integrity 
  7. Install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network  
  8. Install, configure and test an internet protocol network  
  9. Install, configure and test network security  
  10. Install and configure client-server applications and services  
  11. Configure a desktop environment 
  12. Create scripts for networking  
  13. Install hardware to a network  
  14. Deploy software to networked computers  
  15. Create network documentation  
  16. Identify and use current virtualisation technologies 
  17. Support small scale ICT projects
